Both platforms moved forward this cycle. Here is what shipped, followed by a straight answer on cloud sync.

About this post: This developer diary was first shared with the StarNote community on Reddit. The status below reflects where things stood at the time of writing.

Android: v1.3.5

Audio became a first-class part of note-taking on Android.

  • Audio-Ink Sync — link a recording to the strokes you made while it played.
  • Audio import and export — move recordings in and out of a notebook (MP3).
  • Continuous recording up to 120 minutes — long lectures and meetings in a single session, no restarts.
  • Cover and paper preview — long-press to zoom in and check a notebook before opening it.
  • Stability — fixed a set of known issues.

iOS: v1.3.3

  • Tables — draw tables quickly using preset parameters instead of building them stroke by stroke.
  • Sharper imported PDFs — improved text clarity on imported documents.
  • Dashed line export fix — curved dashed lines no longer turn solid after exporting to PDF.
  • Page scaling fix — zooming a page no longer jumps to a different page.
  • Overview fix — notes no longer get stuck when opening the overview.

Cloud sync: where things actually stand

Status: targeting Q2. Development is finished; we are in testing.

We owe you an apology here. We said the beginning of Q2 and missed it. We chose to spend extra time on performance and on syncing behaviour across the rest of the app, because sync that loses your notes is worse than sync that arrives late.

Once testing is done, we will bring in 5 to 10 StarNote users as beta testers to help us harden Google Drive and OneDrive syncing. If that goes well, we will open the beta wider before the public launch.

We will keep you posted as soon as there is something concrete to report.
